Alison Krauss (born July 23, 1971 in Decatur, Illinois) is a bluegrass and country music singer cum pull violin artists of America. She entered the music industry from an early age, winning local contests at the age of ten and was first recorded at age 14. She signed with Rounder Records in 1985 and released his first solo album in 1987. She invited her band still performing with to date, Alison Krauss + Union Station (AKUS). She released her first album with the group in 1989.
Krauss has released 11 albums, appeared in many film music, as well as bring new interest of the public to bluegrass music in the United States. The songs she performed in movies that made her more famous, which must include Grammy-winning soundtrack album O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Considered the album to increase the American public looking to bluegrass , and Cold Mountain soundtrack, was her performance at the Oscars in 2004. During her career she has won 26 Grammy Awards, making her female artist winning first prize (and ranked third on the whole) in the history of this award
