Schwimmer was born in Astoria, Queens, New York. His parents, Arthur Schwimmer and Arlene Colman, was Jewish. They then lived in Valley Stream, Long Island, to 2 years. He grew up in Los Angeles, California, where he attended Beverly Hills High School.
